01 / PROJECT STUDY
react-virtualized-diff
Large files. Clear differences. A focused diff component that keeps the review interface within a rendering budget.
A SMALLER RENDERED WINDOW. A LARGER VIEW OF THE CHANGE.
01 / THE PROBLEM
A big file should still be readable.
Code review tools need to keep the change understandable as files grow. A familiar two-column layout becomes expensive when every line turns into DOM, layout work, and paint work at once.
react-virtualized-diff focuses on the view: a bounded scrolling area, virtualized rows, and unchanged context that can be expanded when the review needs it.
02 / THE APPROACH
Let the viewport set the budget.
The component supports side-by-side and unified layouts, collapsible context, line-number interactions, and style overrides. Its React API lets an existing product provide the text and decide how the review should fit into its interface.
Virtualized rows
Keep rendering focused on the visible portion of a long comparison.
Useful context
Collapse unchanged regions while keeping a deliberate way to inspect them.
A familiar API
Integrate themes, layout options, and review interactions into a React product.
03 / TRY IT
Push the example a little.
The playground uses the published component with generated sample text. Compare 120 and 10,000 lines, switch layouts, expand context, and scroll to the end. It is the actual rendering engine used in this portfolio.
